Yoga and Meditation
Yoga originated in India about 5,000 years ago and is a popular form of
fitness. It promotes general wellbeing, peace of mind and flexibility.
It tones and strengthens the body as well as increasing stamina. It is
particularly good for stress reduction.
You
can practice yoga at any age and fitness level, however, there are
different types of yoga so it is important to choose the best one for
you. They are:
Hatha
The most common and most popular form of yoga. Suitable for beginners,
classes focus on postures and breathing. Hatha promotes an overall
sense of wellbeing.
Ashtanga
This is energetic and more demanding. Fast-paced postures, made in a
continuous flow, strengthen and build stamina as well as enhancing
concentration.
Vinyasa
This is a form of Ashtanga yoga which combines breathing techniques, postures and meditation to help detoxify and energise.
Iyengar
This focuses on proper alignment and precise movements. If you have done Pilates and enjoyed it, this could be for you.
We
can arrange the perfect “Yoga Holiday” for you. A curative and
rejuvenation package will give you total relaxation and enlightenment.
“Yoga Holidays” are available in a variety of destinations in India. Let us know what you want and we will do the rest.
Religious, Spiritual and Cultural Tours
It is said of India that, whether religious, spiritual or cultural,
there is a festival every day and a fair every second. They are year
round celebrations. And that’s not all. The birthdays of Gods and
Goddesses, saints and prophets as well as dates of historical
significance are celebrated too.
Some examples of celebrations, when and where they occur:
• Holi in March - All over India
(A celebration of the end of winter and the beginning of spring)
• Diwali November - All over India
(The festival of lights to welcome Lord Rama back to Ayodhya)
• Mahavir Jayanthi March - All over India
(A celebration of the birth of the 24th Tirthankara, Vardhman Mahavir, the founder of Jainism)
• Christmas December - All over India
(A Christian celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ)
• Independence Day August - All over India
(Commemorating the day India gained independence)
• Republic Day January - All over India
(Commemorating the day India became a republic)
• National Kite Festival January - Gujarat
(Kites, special Gujarat cuisine and exhibitions of handicrafts)
• Pushkar Fair October - Pushkar, Rajasthan
(Trading of cattle, camel races and stalls selling bangles and clothes)

Wildlife Tours
With its diverse landscape and varied climate, India has a rich
diversity of wildlife. Both indigenous and migratory species can be
found in the 70 national parks and 400 wildlife sanctuaries. From the
sight and sounds of the majestic elephant to the peacocks dance and the
roar of a tiger to the stride of a camel, seeing birds and animals in
their natural habitat is a unique experience.
Some examples of national parks/wildlife sanctuaries are listed below.
For more information call or email us.
The
former hunting reserve of the Maharaja of Jaipur is now part of
“Project Tiger” and is one of the best places to see tigers in the
wild. Set routes in shared vehicles are used for early morning and late
afternoon game drives.
Originally
created by the Maharaja of Bharatpur to hold duck shoots, the Keoladeo
Ghana Sanctuary now attracts an abundance of birdlife. Wading birds
such as the Sarus crane, and if you are lucky, the rare Siberian crane,
can be seen in India’s most spectacular bird sanctuary.
Safaris
by boat, jeep or camel will take you to see 260 bird species,
crocodiles and the Gangetic dolphin. Or if you prefer a cultural
alternative, you can visit Fort Ater and the Bateshaw temples.
The
longest established national park in India, Corbett is in the foothills
of the Himalayas. 580 species if bird, wild elephants, marsh crocodiles
and river-dwelling fish-eating crocodiles can be seen in this wildlife
oasis.
Tiger,
leopard, the Indian wild dog, swamp deer and the sloth bear have all
been seen at varying times of the day somewhere in the 900 square
kilometres of Kanha.
Bandhavgarh
consists of a thick sal and bamboo forest with open marshland. This
makes it a suitable habitat for wild boar, jackel and sambar, as well
as a healthy tiger population.
Allegedly
the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling’s “Jungle Book”, Pench is also a
member of “Project Tiger”. Mammals such as langur, spotted deer and the
jungle cat are regularly seen here.
